New Year

As I sit in my library, beginning a new schedule of Bible reading for the year, I think of my youngest sister, for some reason imagining her doing the same, setting an example for her children, just as my parents set example for me and my eight siblings. Comes to mind others who practice daily devotions with their families, those who were inspired by my parents' example. And then I rejoice to know that there are others, quietly influenced by observing this practice we learned from Mom and Dad. How many thousands will follow their example?

I long for my children to know the blessing of this discipline. I prayed this morning with thanksgiving for my home in which I quietly sit before the Word of God, with thanksgiving that God had set each of my eight siblings in their own homes (think of it! It is a wonder!) in which they ponder His Word, and I pray that all of my father's twenty-nine grandchildren will one day have their own homes in which they may set the same example for all their children, their children's friends, and all whom the Lord might bring to pass under their roofs.

I might become a postmillennialist yet.
