The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places

Reading Rogers this morning, my distress turned to quiet peace. I thank God that at sometime or other we bought this SDG book for someone else. I found little help yesterday in rereading a spiritual autobiography that once taught me good things. Nor did I find much help in unloading in tears to my husband. (He must get weary of me. It is a picture of Christ's love and Body that he doesn't seem to, that indeed, he loves me!)But reading three chapters out of Timothy Rogers' book (see below) has reminded me what Cal would have reminded me had our conversation gone far enough.

And having said all that, I must say, having read all that I read this morning, I was struck by the shallowness of my own grief. Even while I feel shut out of heaven, even while I struggle with the guilt of my great sin, there are others in God's providence who have felt much more distress and silence than I, and for longer periods. Indeed, the lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. May He give me grace for today.
