Ordering lunch with my sister, Laurie, and her son, Jonny at Zelda's-on-the-Beach, Capitola, California, after which we spent an hour playing in the sand, watching the surfers, and feeding the birds.



Before sunrise, Laurie and I collected rocks (they have no shells) on Gold Beach, Oregon. Our third floor motel room had a balcony overlooking the beach and we slept with the door open, the surf pounding. Bliss.



The beautiful Oregon coast. Laurie and I drove up through the redwoods and then along the coast in order to attend our Aunt Grayce's 90th birthday party in Eugene. The most spectacular scenery of all was driving Hwy 38 along the Umpqua River.



Laurie hugging Aunt Grayce. Can you see Art Melvin in both of them?! Hope to be the encourager that Grayce is, and if I live to be her age, as sharp. Her humor is a step above Dad's in that it is so dry and unconcerned about the response.
