The day after

In my home, Republicanism reigns on the first floor. That is, my mother-in-law is much more atune to this world than are we. We believe that we are to work in the land of our exile for the good of all. But we do understand, up here on the second floor, that it is only our land of exile. So we can rejoice even when the Democrats win congress. We can rejoice that God is in His heaven doing what pleases Him and therefore that all is right with the world.

In God's dear and delightful Providence, my daily readings included these which I share with my reader who may be tempted to worldly horror today:

LORD, How are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul,There is no help for him in God. Selah.
But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

Let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 1 Thessalonians 5:8

Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest yourhope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth having upt on the breastplate of righteousness, . . . above all,taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:14, 16-17

He will swallow up death forever, and the LORD GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for the LORD has spoken. And it will be said in that day: "Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the LORD; . . . we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation. Isaiah 25:8-9
